Unzip, replace the current index.php in your theme and you are done. This is for version 3.0

cheers but that doesn’t seem to work properly, it maybe clashing with one of the extra plugins i’ve installed though, i’ll have a play.

While i’m here i’ll mention a little bug i think i have discovered, my “most viewed” page keeps doubling up entries so that pairs of idential entries appear next to each other.

Hey, i just imported a database with 1500 videos, now all of them have no thumbnails, is there a way / plugin that is going to let me mass change the thumbnails that i choose. For example i choose all of family guy season 4 and choose a thumbnail for all of them.

I’ve uploaded a fair number of videos onto the site, but for some reason, they aren’t “filling in all the spaces”. In one line I may have one or two thumbprints whereas other lines will be filled. Can you help?

everything looks great, I can set everything perfectly.
until, I post my 15th video post. the theme goes error.
the display of the left sidebar is not in the right place anymore. the widget is place in below, while the above space is empty. just blank. I didnt change anything in stylesheet.

I use tube3.1 and the thumb pict didnt show up in front page, but, in the related video below the single post, shows perfectly.
I used tube3 before, it worked fine, until the 15th post, the left sidebar in front page not inplace (they showed in below space while the upper space empty).
I install wp 2.9, is this theme not compatible with wp 2.9?
and also, it showing error message everytime I make changes in post display under reading option.

I am trying to set up my 1st site with your program and attempting to use YouTube videos. Where do you find the URL to the thumbnail image on YouTube? Is there a way to upload YouTube playlists? Thanks Tenali. Just to make sure, this index.php file enables you to choose top rated posts instead of order by date. Most users have problems with thumbs because they don’t even read install.txt

Nevermind… RSS is already there.. All I need to do now is customize it so it includes thumbnail image on it.

The site is pretty cool but so very very many people have exactly the same problem with Thumbs not appearing on the home page.

The answer is read the install text which to be honest is very vague indeed as many users do not know any html.

Many people ask the same question here and get a rather short and irritated reply. The fact is this is a good product that could be fantastic. Not everyone is wrong and only the creator right.

Can you at least provide a step by step guide to correcting the thumbnail issue as it is not clearly covered in the install text.
I have installed hundreds of script sites both WPress and non wordpress but sorry this one outfoxes me.

Many people want to use a post feeder/generator to obtain the videos.
Whilst the videos work perfectly in the player on pressing the empty thumb sqaure, the thumbs themself are not visible even when the relevent boxes as mentioned above are selected.

Can you help once and for all not only myself but everyone else who still hasn’t solved this.

NO THUMBS PROBLEM:

This is still just wordpress. It can not generate thumbs by itself. You need to either make a thumb an upload it to your server or hotlink to a thumb from sponsor or other site.

Here is what to do:

1. upload a thumb
2. go to custom fields below your post area (below of where you write post text).
3. create new custom field called “thumb” (without “”)
4. in value field put in url to thumb you uploaded or to thumb your sponsor or other site is hosting
5. click add custom field

That’s it. Hope it’s understood.

Greg is right in that a custom field must be created and this works fine for 95% of posts.

The problem people are having when using automated post plugins is that the software itself
names the thumb on the post differently. ie the software instead of naming the image “thumb” will name the image something like psb_thum_url.

When written in this way WP Tube will NOT recognize the thumb posted and it still will not appear in the gallery.

This is NOT a WP Tube problem. WP Tube works amazingly well and all credit to Greg for producing such a fantastic script for free!

What you have to do to get around this is edit one of of your files in the relevent Plugins functions.php file so that instead of automaticaly listing each thumb as psb_thum_url or wpo_thumb_url it lists it as simply thumb.

It’s very easy really once you know how but it did take me a good few hours to sort out.

Remember that this tube script wasn’t made just for automatic post generators. It was made for individual posts.
Greg has done a brilliant job and this product works perfectly. The problem is with the plugins we choose to use and it is up to us to solve that problem and has nothing to do with Greg or WP Tube.

Once again many thanks to Greg and the team a job very well done!

If you want to make your WP Tube auto-updating (let it pull the new FLV clips right from XML feeds), I would suggest you to install the CyberSEO Suite plugin.

Wonderful theme, well I know the new theme might be coming out anytime soon. I will be updating but as for now, the 3plugins will not upload… This might be a problem on my end, I am going to keep trying, but the 3plugins I guess for rating, views and such will not upload. Like I said, I will keep trying hopefully I will figure out what the hell I am doing wrong. Also using IE, ads and things keep disappearing I will try and figure it out but when I view my site on Firefox ever thing is there like it should be. Hm weird.

And I clicked on a lot of post names and saw websites, on the Firefox browser you can look at keywords that people have on their site. Just right click on the page and go to “Page Info” then you will see something called Meta Tags, please people who didn’t add keywords to your site, please do so. It will help you get listed in search engines and much more.

Also I add all of my videos manually so it is easy to make thumbs, the instructions are very simple. And it might be easy as well if you allow others to add videos to your site, manually this might save on time.

Yes, it has to be your FTP problem. Meta tags are useless, Google is not using them. You can use the current teme and than switch to new one when it comes out.

Yeah, I kind of figured it was dealing with an FTP problem… I use Firefox mostly. I didn’t know Google wasn’t using Meta Tags. I’m pretty sure Yahoo, MSN and some others still do, at least I hope.

When you enable the Tube Theme you should see something at the very bottom of the page that states, “Tube Options”, Click That and it will take you to the “Main Settings” once there change logo from “text”, to “image”. Then go down and put in the URL of the image. For logo position I use “5px 0 0 20px”. Save your changes and that’s it.

I have not implemented the thumbnails on the RSS yet. It’s not too complicated, but you do need to know how to from the xml for the RSS feed and be mindful of special characters in xml.

Hi, I started my website and I have a couple of questions. Okay I’m having problems with categories. There are two sets of categories as you guys know one linking to “links” and the other to “posts”. When I created my categories in posts they never showed up. Now when I create the categories in links they show up, but whenever I post now I gotta post everything in “page” and the videos end up listed vertically as opposed to horizontally. And on top of that these new posts don’t show up on the front page. Another question I have is about adding banners to the logo section in the top left and to the bottom 720X116 slot. How do I do it? In new tube your’ll be able to set the footer add in theme options.

Right now, just open footer.php in Notepad or some other text editor and edit this part:

Replace the image path with path to your image and replace # with your target url.

Ok, I see that the code did not show in the comment. Anyway, just open footer.php and edit the line that starts with div id=”ads_buttom”

I tried using advanced random plugin, but it add random posts. I would like to show (example) 28 posts/posts in the home page in a random order for each refresh of the browser.

Use custom fields.
It’s simple you have to understand how your video embedding plugin names the custom field thumbnails.
Then you edit index.php code and you change the value “thumb” with the new custom field name when necessary.

Can someone tell me why some titles are a single line with ….. and other titles can make it to double lines??? Seems to be no rhyme or reason and it’s driving me nuts.

Found it! For anybody wanting longer titles (i.e. more characters) on their posts title on the front page, you have to modify the h2 tag in the index.php file. Specifically line number 57:

<a href="” rel=”bookmark” title=”">post_title,15); ?>

Change the 15 after post_title, to however many characters you want. I set mine to 50 so now it looks like:

<a href="” rel=”bookmark” title=”">post_title,50); ?>

This still didn’t answer my question of why some of my titles get split into two lines despite having the same amount of characters, but for anybody looking for more breathing room in their titles, this should be a nice fix.

Now the next mountain to tackle is how to have all my videos neatly aligned despite the mismatch in character lengths for the titles on the front page. As of right now, some of the videos are floating up and down in correspondence to the title length and I wish to keep them static regardless of h2 length.

If anyone has a fix let me know. If I find one, I’ll definitely let you guys know. I’m no html/css/php expert by any stretch of the animation and I honestly don’t even know what I did to get the fix I did, (modify some string length), but maybe if we communicate with each other we can probably help one another out as it looks like the developer just picks and chooses who he wants to address.

If you want to change that line to whatever color you want in the black theme, go to Line 208 in the style.css file and change where it says #969696. Change that to whatever color you want.
It’s in the header tag like this:

hi all i have a problem at my website http://www.trailerbee.com, when i try to search videos on my website my home page reloads and i can’t do search, i didn’t had this problem before it just started, it works fine in IE but not firefox, can anyone help me

install.txt does not have complete instructions for the video custom field.

It only states
5. video_code – Code of the video for single page (you can embed videos from other sites or host your own player, such as JW Player from http://www.longtailvideo.com)

But does not give an example of what the actual code should be.

I am using JWPlayer to upload own videos (no You Tube/Vimeo), and going to Longtails’ website gives so many examples that it is hard to understand which code should actually be used for video_code.

Can you provide a specific example?

Just wanted to say thanks for the great theme and looking forward to version 4.0. Took me some time to figure some things out such as bottom ads on the single page, changing fonts and colors, etc. , but overall a great theme and it has been a valuable learning experience. Anyone can view my sight at http://cumcommando.co.cc . My wife has a companion site with your theme @ http://peachsporn.co.cc . It is nearly complete. Among many other plugins , we are using the Gamma-Tube plugin to import videos, thumbs etc. from Famedollars. However the developer seems to have gone missing. I had to learn the hard way how to add 22 more sites to the plugin. Any idea if there are future plans for that plugin, Greg? His plugin links to your theme page, so I thought you might know.

Thank you very much for sharing this. I’m trying to build a site as a noob, but learning more and more.

I’ve read all of the comments and the txt-file and not gotten any answer to how add the ads to the designated places on the sites. Please tell ut how to do it. I’m not familiar with editing the pages in css so a drag and drop function would be great.

It would be really nice to get an answer. I still haven’t found out how to add my ads on my site.

I am also try to got image with youtube videos. I have instal the plugin when edit post it let me see that there is a link to thumbnail. But when save the post it dont let see the image. anyone has some problem? i use wp videotube to got videos from youtube

I am curious how to make the video_code work.
When I take code from JW player I can only figure out how to show the flv with full url address, but how to show the acutal video? and how to make the video_code to be default so I do not have to setup it with each post?

why do you refuse to answer questions about changing the size and spacing of the images on the home page?

To switch to 3 columns, i just figured out. You have to make multiple changes to style.css, look for .videos and also for thumbs to set the image and video size (like 0 20px 150px 20px),
You must toy with those settings according to the thumbnail size you want to use.

Then you must go into the Index.php (homepage file) and look for the code that mentions “4==0″ in two places. This appears to be reading current number of vids to post. replace the numbers 4 to the number 3. This will then load 3 vids per row. Afterward you can go back to tinker with the padding etc settings i mention earlier to space the vids properly, otherwise you will have 3 tiny videos and alot of white space. You may also want to widen the ‘content’ width to 800 or so to fit the vids. I usually change the Background color so i can see what sections resize etc as i change the width of each one. Like ‘background: red;” save, and then refresh browser. Then go back and make the changes to padding etc ie..30 190 20 15px etc etc.

Has anyone found how to make RSS feeds have thumb with original size that you added to field thumb ?

i have tested many different plugins and functions.php mods but none of them helps.

I have not implemented the thumbnails on the RSS yet. It’s not too complicated, but you do need to know how to from the xml for the RSS feed and be mindful of special characters in xml.
